14/05/2008 - No newts is good newts?! |
A report from the BBC lunchtime news today states that no Great Crested Newts have been found on the Earl Shilton bypass.
A number of "ordinary" newts have been caught in the specially designed traps laid around the area on the bypass site, but not one Great Crested Newt which are the subject of the European directive.
This has caused the bypass to be delayed by 3 months and cost an estimated £1 million pounds!
